At Movement Evolution Scotland we aim to increase participation in Freespirit Sports. These sports and activities value and promote individuality, creativity and freedom. They encourage us to look at the environment around us with play and imagination in our minds, and they develop athletic skills in fun and inclusive environments as well as encouraging autonomy and self-determination and the support and encouragement of others.
What is Parkour?
Parkour is the physical discipline of training to move freely over and through any terrain using only the abilities of the body, principally through running, jumping, climbing and swinging. In practice it focuses on developing the fundamental attributes required for such movement, which include functional strength and fitness, balance, spatial awareness, agility, coordination, precision, control and creative vision. Through Parkour we aim to build confidence, determination, self-discipline and self-reliance, self-expression and responsibility for one’s actions. Encouraging respect for others and for one’s environment, along with the importance of play, discovery and safety at all times.
We offer both regular Parkour classes at The Movement Bothy as well as Pop Up Parkour sessions.
Other Freespirit Sports
Skateboarding has a culture all of its own. While riding a skateboard has been associated with danger, carelessness, and laziness. As a subculture, skaters value creativity, risk, and freedom. Within skateboarding comes the space to make decisions, and challenge oneself. We aim to encourage respect for others and for one’s environment, self-expression, and the importance of play, discovery and safety at all times. Skateboarding also offers an array of physical development opportunities including coordination; balance; and fine and gross motor skills.
We offer both regular Skateboarding classes as well as Pop Up Skateboarding sessions as well.
Snowsports encompasses a range of different sports and disciplines. Promoting creativity and freedom to move in the great outdoors.
