We aim to increase participation in Freespirit Sports. These sports and activities value and promote individuality, creativity and freedom. They encourage us to look at the environment around us with play and imagination in our minds, and they develop athletic skills in fun and inclusive environments as well as encouraging autonomy and self-determination and the support and encouragement of others.

Skateboarding may have similarities with other Freespirt Sports it does have a culture all of its own. While riding a skateboard has been associated with danger, carelessness, and laziness. As a subculture, skaters value creativity, risk, and freedom. Within skateboarding comes the space to make decisions, and challenge oneself. We aim to encourage respect for others and for one’s environment, self-expression, and the importance of play, discovery and safety at all times.

Skateboarding also offers an array of physical development opportunities including coordination; balance; and fine and gross motor skills. Get started on your skateboarding journey with our Get Rolling programme.
